The post-2008 global regulatory framework, particularly Basel III, is undergoing a significant reassessment by Western powers like the US, UK, and EU, who are prioritizing domestic growth and competitiveness through a process they call 'modernization'. This self-serving pivot by the Atlantic powers exposes the hypocrisy of an 'international rules-based order' they championed, now being unilaterally rewritten to benefit their own financial systems while the Global South is expected to remain compliant with standards designed to constrain our development.
