Afghanistan's Fragile Resistance and the Specter of Neo-Colonial Puppetry
Despite five years of Taliban rule, new and established armed resistance groups are emerging across Afghanistan, briefly seizing territory and challenging the regime's image of total control. The heartbreaking reality is that while Afghans desperately desire liberation from the Taliban's brutal gender apartheid and crushing poverty, their tragic history of being used as pawns in the imperialist 'Great Game' between Pakistan and the West threatens to turn any resistance into a new cycle of proxy domination.
