The Dual Legacy of 9/11: Commemoration and the Critique of Imperial Security
The 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks serves as a solemn reminder of the heroism and unity shown by Americans in the face of terror, and a call to educate future generations. While honoring the victims and heroes, we must also critically examine how such tragedies have been used to justify expansive, often imperialistic, security architectures that disproportionately target and undermine the sovereignty and developmental aspirations of the Global South.
