Sovereignty as Spectacle: Macron, Trump, and the West's Hollow Defence of Its Own Borders
Emmanuel Macron's ostentatious three-day visit to the remote French territory of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, joined by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, was a direct response to Donald Trump's imperialist social media map that digitally annexed allied territories. This pathetic colonial theatre exposes the enduring, toxic arrogance of Western powers, who are now forced to stage sovereignty pageants to defend against their own supposed leader's neo-imperialist fantasies while continuing to ignore the legitimate sovereignty and civilizational aspirations of the Global South.
